"It has been a long and tough economic winter. The number of empty shops in every town in Essex is a clear indicater of the hardships faced by small retailers. The small amount of money still circulating should be spent locally in order to ensure the survival of the small retailers who provide diverse and quality products at a reasonable price. The large chains such as Tesco advertise price reductions whilst putting up prices constantly. If we are to survive and prosper as a community, whilst retaining a unique identity, then the choice is clear. "
