About the Website
Everything you ever wanted to know about the Mersea-island.com website and the people behind it.
The Mersea-island.com website exists to:-
- Provide an open ground for positive discussion about key topics in the community.
- Highlight issues within the community and stand as a body to represent opinions voice by users of the website.
- Provide information to members of the community, along with visitors to the Island and those looking to move here.
- Encourage the use of local businesses.
- Promote tourism to the extent of the local economy.
We made a commitment when we first started Red Tiger to help charities and our local community to the best of our abilities and as much as we can.
That aim has now become tradition and we carry out work each year to help organisations that do good things for others. As part of this help for the community we bought, re-built and run this Mersea Island Community Website.
It's free because we feel we'd like to give something back to the community and help those who dwell it voice their opinions, help one another, better themselves and work towards bettering the community as a whole.

Mersea-island.com was originally owned by AEP Computers of West Mersea. They gave Red Tiger the opportunity of a buy-out in late 2003 and it was taken up with a full acceptance.
The website at that time, plus the clientél, was given to Red Tiger Design as part of the transaction and, after designing a new website from scratch, the site has gone from strength to strength. A major step in the website as it is today is the introduction of the Discussion Forums in 2005.
The forums provided a way for users of the website to communicate with one another and it wasn't long before it was self-supportive in terms of communication.
